Originally from southeastern Ohio just an hour from Columbus, I now live in the capital city of neighboring West Virginia–over 10 years now. I’ve always enjoyed cycling to some degree but have really picked it up more around 2017 or so. A very close friend of mine in Cleveland commutes every day to work outside and it’s been incredibly inspiring to watch his journey with it–from the commuting (about 24-25 miles round trip) to all of the bike events and vacations.
Now my family and I have joined him in quite a few of those trips, with our young daughter going along on every trip in her favorite space of all: her Burley trailer! We’ve logged well over 300 miles with the trailer now which includes a full one-way excursion across the Great Allegheny Passage Trail (well worth it, as has been noted by many others elsewhere).
I’ve finally committed to adding little bits here and there of either my own daily bike commuting or from the cycle events/vacations. Or just those days out on a trail (of which there are hardly any near Charleston, excluding mountain bike trails–nothing against those, they just aren’t my thing).
